I submitted the game for review. I been a fan of MMOFPS for a long time so I came across with this site and gave it a look (Might have been thru digg but im not sure). Saw the games list and I did not saw Fallen earth there.
You haven't heard a lot of the game because they never had a good publisher. They canceled development for a while because they could no longer finance the project but thankfully they found someone very interested in MMOS that liked the project so now they are back on track.
I know it is kinda unclear if the game is a MMOFPS but with some info taken from the interviews we can clear that part out:

In your opinion what is the most compelling reason for the MMOG crowd to keep abreast on: Fallen Earth?
We're creating a style of gameplay that isn't like any other game on the market. Sure, other games have FPS elements, missions, and crafting, but we're bringing them together like no one else has. Pile onto that real vehicles, the ability to craft 95% of the items in the game, no level limit, or any of the other new features we've got and it's easy to see this will be a unique game.
I have to ask, any word on a closed/open beta? (using the word 'soon' will of course lead to rioting)
Hopefully closed Beta by the end of the year.
So I think it's clear there that he is creating a MMOFPS or alike game. Judging by the early screenshots Id say it looks like Tabula Rasa Camerawise. I think you might be able to get the camera inside the player but I am not so sure about this.
Here's one image so you can see what im talking about:

I like the style the game has because it seems like a Mad Max kind of game. Huge areas with player crafted stuff everywhere with a post-apocalyptic theme.
Guess we'll have to wait until we get more content form them to see but it looks like it's going to be fun so far.
He mentions a Closed Beta for late December but I think it would be safe to say that it's not going to happen this year. They do need to get something out by early 2008 because of the rest of mmofps coming out the same year.
I don't think that's a very good idea because of Huxley also getting more stuff for 1st half 2008. But I don't think they have any other option.
