I really think that territorial aspects should be more focused in MMOFPS games. Not only that, but they should have ways for players to hold there territory for extended periods of time without haveing to play 24-7 in order to defend your owned territory.

i know that this is for MMORPGS, but some games like sucky wars galaxys ( SOE ruined the best game, star wars galaxys, ever made) and shadowbane have it where you can set up guards to defend a player made city from pvp.

AI gets difficult in MMOFPS games also. Still. I mean, in Planetside several continents would shift completely in one day. Terrirtories would shift so quickly because all that really mattered was which empire had the most players that happened to be awake and online at the time. The +/- health dicated by the amount of players per empire was one good example of slowing down quick territory shifts.

It really depends on how you design the way territory will be captured, another thing that was implemented was the Lattice Links to prevent back hacking so the territory control isnt all chaotic and split up. The turrets were a good defense if they actually worked well and were more specialized to take out certain targets to promote a sense of team play. Another good idea is a passive shield that has gaps to allow cov ops to go in and open up the shields for an offensive.

A "Conquered Territory Idea" 1 Year, 5 Months ago

See, I dont know why Planetside thought of this. Yes, the bonuses you got from the neutral contents stayed for eone side till it was "locked" by another... but why should only the rabbit and other events lock the continent from access?
I think in PS, there should have been a 6 - 12 hour cool down period once a territory (or now planet) was conquered, this would enforce the battle moving on to other planets, instead of war constantly raging on one planet, Cyssorside anyone? lol.
