I had my butt badly hurted only in ultra violence tonight

, your point about RPG elements is interesting, i recently thinked about the opposite :
Tonight, chain diying on a map and falling into all the traps i knew one day the eyes closed, i thinked that DOOM had RPG elements on it, like the keys for example, and sometimes more possibilities to take many paths as in nowadays FPS, where there is always only one path, the map is like a road with walls on the sides in the FPS of today.
In doom for example we sometimes have more something like a map, where we can almost go where we want on it, i have the Suburbs map in mind here for example, with of course the condition of the triggers and the keys to not can run to the exit directly.
RPGs is the type of nowaday games that tend to have more multipaths maps.
It sometimes making us having to make wise choices of which way to take to not finish out of bullets or killed by some angry demon.
In the games like half life for example there is a lot more RPG elements but there is in addition a devolution....we always have one poor path, and most horribly, we have to search for our poor one way all the time, and to add more to this horrible concept : its a inherent part of the game, i wonder how the in game characters can evolve in a so limited space, and there are some incoherences that comes with.
I won't go more far in the bad points of the FPS of today for now, it will become off topic, an entire topic could be made about that for me, and maybe i will make one, one day.
