The effort, for me at least, deserves an applaud. I've lived in a developing nation before and have to say that something like this is a godsend.

I don't know if you have to pay for internet connection on this thing but supposedly, even if you don't have connection you can still connect to all of its other XO laptop users.

Now, you may look at the specs and say it's not worth $400, but if you have a toddler than this is a perfect gift. It's practically indestructable. To boot, the intention of buying the laptop is not for your kids shiny new computer, but for someone else's kid that is too poor to afford one.

They're a reputable company. The project has so much press coverage and investors that I would say that they're forced to be bona-fide Samaritans.

It's actually a multl-nation project. Even China has a hand in it (gotta sustain censorship, yah know?)
