The Future of WW2OL 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Anyone have any predictions. Production notes from the official site tell me the game is alive and still very active. It just lacks current technology. Have there been any rumors as to upgrading their engine or what not?

I would love to see a major update to this game. I just cant get into the older style graphics and gameplay. But yeah, its still doing decent business. They are just scratching the surface with what they have now....they modernize the game engine and graphics and this would blow up bigtime imo.

they are currently working on unityII,and parts of it are already out. as for the graphics, they will not improve much anytime soon.our engine renders 3d objects and loads info for up to 128 players out to a range of 3 kilometers. the triangle budget doesnt allow for high poly count 3d objects when the rendering area is 3 kilometers.

as for gameplay, i dont know how long ago you played, but the gameplay has never been better. gone are the days of trying to rush your troops in on the back of a truck, mobile spawns set outside of town as well as spawnable depo's youve captured mean lots of quick action in area's of concentrated players (having 100+ players on your side alone attacking the same town is typicle).

the spawn lists have also been expanded to include infantry types like mortars, anti-tank riflemen, rifle propelled grenades (grenadier), and light machine gunners, all with paratooper equivelants.

more tanks have also been modeled including the infamous Tiger tank and sherman 76mm and british churchill and crusader series.

I'm gonna have to find the 411 on the Unity 2 and what it's capable of. Do you know if the engine is intended to only be used for WW2OL or is there rumors if the WW2OL world of the devs possibly making a new game?

btw- welcome to the forums

"Unity II" is Open Scene Graph, a open source render engine that CRS is using to replace the current graphics code. The first release won't add any new features or better graphics, just replicate the existing functionality. Once the conversion is complete though, then they'll be able to take advantage of all the features OSG offers.

As for making a new game, CRS has always been open to it, but they don't have the resources for it right now.
