Face of Mankind is a science fiction-themed MMORPG playable in either first or third person and centering on role play, community and a completely player-driven economy. Face of Mankind also bears the distinction of being the first MMOG of its kind to utilize a player-generated mission system. This is handled by highly ranked players who create missions which are then split and handed down through the player hierarchy.

The ultimate goal of individual players, however, is to develop their characters (Combatant, Commander, Medic or Trader) to the greatest heights of wealth, power, social status, or a combination thereof. The game world is an ever evolving one, with the game’s staff regularly starting new story arcs and the skills and luck of players within each clan shifting the balance of power.

PvP in Face of Mankind is unique in that it is up to the players to police themselves for the most part. Some players may choose to act as in-game law enforcement, but others may choose a profitable criminal path.

No place in this MMO’s game world is entirely safe, although some areas are more safe than others. Faction versus Faction warfare can flare up at anytime, with potentially hundreds of faction members fighting and effecting dramatic change of world order.

Not worth Premium

The game is to boring, it can't truly be considered an FPS besides the fact it has guns. Basically look at Face of Mankind as a 3-D chat room, with a smidge of role-playing and even less combat.

If you expect a game of excitement, this is NOT it. You'll spend most of your time AFK on their forums.

If you enjoy meeting new people and simply chatting this game could be for you!

Why pay monthly fees when you can get Counter strike source or something like that? Maybe halo 3? if you can afford monthly fees I think you can save for an xbox 360 or something nice.

IMO Not worth paying monthly. :)

This game is just... bleh...

I played this game for some time. I'd say like 4 days, the most and was very unimpressed. This game is confusing and doesn't give new players a chance to get into the game. You don't know what your doing, the story is too confusing to understand, and you end up getting killed by other factions because your unfamiliar with how the game sums up in the beginning. So what happens is, you start to get bored with creating new characters and starting from scratch. Really makes things dull.

So if your looking for a noobie friendly game, this is not what your looking for as this game scares new players off and keeps the assholes in the game.

This game is based on every faction in the game, but if one faction doesn't do anything the economy gets screwed up. I think that this game could've been neat if they hadn't made it depend on every other thing.

Good game, well worth the 12 buck a month or however much it is these days. I suggest subscribing for a month and if you dont like the game, fine you dont have to play.

Population in the game is rising and overall the game is now coming into its own.

Most bugs have been worked out of the game now and the developers are working on implementing new content such as aliens.

The fighting system is this game i find is very unique and what has attracted me to keep subscribing.

For a new player this game can seem rather overwhelming at first, but, the community has become alot more friendlier and with VOIP programs such as Ventrilo make it easier to communicate to tell you what you need to do in order to get the most out of the game.

If you can spare the pocket change, like FPS games, then definately subscribe to this game.

Face of Mankind takes a very intrepid step toward a new generation of MMORPGs. Besides being one of very few massive FPS games, it also boasts a world entirely own by the players. The economy, the government, the storyline, and even the majority of the content and missions are run at the digression of the community.

As Utopian as that description may sound, it doesn't come without its fair share of flaws. Mechanics-wise, the style of combat is best described as a close-quarters esoteric cluster. It's not uncommon to see two factions jumping and twirling around each other to avoid being hit while also avoiding friendly fire (which is very common). Grenades are costly and avoidable, making them almost entirely useless. The game also lacks an insurance system, and thus all equipment except for weapons and implants are lost upon death.

Content is another matter of debate. Official storylines from the GMs all but exist in-game. Generally, they elude to some big event that never happens. Player content is more common, although in-game roleplays have dried up as of late. Those that have been created recently are somewhat awkward or immature (as ungoverned kids tend to turn out).

Overlooking those facts, there are many other redeeming features about the game. Each new patch brings in a load of new features, especially the new "milestone patch," which took out much of the grind built into the previous system. The professions, now built into the colony takeover system, provides for flawless balance and are key to the success of each faction. The promise of new aliens to be added soon also has most of the community on its toes.

Overall, the game can best be described as a "face only a mother could love," but in a good sense. It takes a bit of imagination and creativity, but if you've got a nack for creating something out of nothing... you'll be right at home!

Getting there

The game is good overall. The major problem is lack of maturity from some members in the community, and the lack of players in certain timezones. Other then that, the game has been VERY addicting.

It's a really good game when the right people are on, but like the others said the Managment is flawed.

Basically it goes down like this :
The "Fuhrer" of the GM's let's call him "Smoker" has a team of "Gestapo" called the GM's that investigate what bad people say about him and get them banned and crap.

But when "Smoker" is not here, people have fun.
Just my two cents.

I generally enjoy the game due to the main selling points. Consistency, only one server, faction based action, no PvE. Competition, and possibility to progress without always being there. Many "soft" values, such as roleplay, comraderie, integrity and reputation effects your position.

It requires the right players - and rewards the right players too.

Mainly this game has its up and downs. Since retail this game has struggled to maintain a suitable playerbase, meaning this game dont have that many players (would guess around 60 people playing active). Many Factions are empty at all time, others have timezone differences. This game dont have that many updates and fixes, or even good implementations , and the player community rather behaves like some 14 year olds who just want to get some power when they are bored playing CS.

And then, we have the evil GMs and CMs; in total the ones destroying the game in the first place. They ban and kick players for accusations whom they never even check if there is evidences enough to do that action. They do favioritism, so they are never neutral..The CMs have already destroyed one faction (FDc) in this game, by removing all the players of it and replaced it with a rather gay leader.

This game has more holes than a swiss-cheese, CMs acting if they were the sons of Hitler, and players who find the amusement to attack the ones who are weaker then them. In total, you rather get more for you money playing WoW, atleast the GMs and creators care about you.

The game offers alot, things like no NPC involvement, Players make, uphold and run the game.

Sadly tho, the Community Managers Do as they please, break Player events because they dont like it and you cant really expect more then technical support, since it's player run the CM's cant help you if your higher rank just wants to kick you from the faction all of a sudden.

I have been playing this for 1 year and 5 months now. I can say that it has been fun, we have had ALOT of problems with the player run Idea, and ALOT of problems with patched making the game more unstable for every patch.

But over all, when I dont think of all the Aimbots and hacks people have created for this game, I would think the Idea is great if they would actually follow it.

I also think the combat is good, not great, alot of things could be better but they are not developing that at the moment, they are happy with what they have, so It is good.

Since the resent Cummunity Manage involvement in the Faction I was in, the FDC, Millitary, I was one of the R5, next highest rank in the army twise. Resigned both times because I could agree with was going on.

I will give this a C, because it's great when we play it as it's suppose to, but when the CM's get invloved they destoy everything we have created, they change their word over and over and fuck people over that is only doing what they told you to do.

Face of Mankind, while not very well suited for the general FPS crowd, is very fun if you are into real Role-Playing. The combat is a lot of fun, because it takes real skill to be good at it. The player-driven mechanics of the game is what makes the whole game worthwhile to me. Inter-Factional politics, things like the senate, are things that are really fun to get involved with.

Face of Mankind only appeals to people who enjoy more depth in their gaming experience. I would suggest FoM to anyone.

Absolute crap.

This game is very, very bad. The first person shooting is terrible, clippy, and unrewarding. The game concept requires people to be around in large numbers to even be fun and it simply is not the case because the very buggy, barely beta game somehow got released and now they want my money, with virtually no indication that I'll even get progress in return for it. Great concept, completely player driven. In reality, very bad unbalanced idea, very few mostly frustrated players. Avoid at all costs.
